Retreat Facilitators

Jini Patel Thompson and Annabel Fisher have put together this Healing Retreat based on over 40 years combined experience in facilitating healing for people.

Annabel Fisher Annabel Fisher is an exceptional teacher who through necessity began her journey onto the healing path. With a degree in religious studies and psychology,Annabel then worked as an ESL teacher and enjoyed traveling the globe – until Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (M.E.) confined her to a wheelchair. Her own Healing Journey (she is now fully fit and vibrant) led her to EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), which worked so well for her that she trained to become a therapist and then an instructor of EFT. Along the way, Annabel also became a certified hypnotherapist, certified pranic healer and certified NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) practitioner. Her own healing journey, combined with her wealth of training in powerful healing modalities, makes her an ideal guide to take your healing to the next level in this Retreat.

Jini Patel ThompsonJini Patel Thompson was recognized by her church as 'having the gift of healing' when she was 8 years old. She channeled God's healing for people via 'laying on hands' and prayer. At the age of 17, her own personal Healing Journey began when she was diagnosed with widespread Crohn's disease. Her journey to heal herself resulted in extensive exploration of various healing modalities. In her twenties, after graduating from university, she studied pranic healing (an Indian system of energy healing) and combined this with working with sound and crystals. She also trained martial arts for seven years and yoga for 15 years – through these modalities she learned ways of gathering energy and getting into the deeper layers of the body/mind via movement. Jini's books on natural healing methods for IBD & IBS have sold into more than 40 different countries. She herself has been drug and surgery-free for over 20 years. Jini is looking forward to sharing stories of her healing experiences and communications with the spirit world during this Retreat. She is also honored to be your guide into the deeper realms of your body, mind and spirit during this healing weekend.

Jini and Annabel have been working together over the past two years – they have combined their extensive knowledge and experience, together with divine inspiration, to create some new, very powerful healing tools, that they are looking forward to unveiling and teaching to others for the first time at this Retreat.

Retreat Location

The retreat will be held in the Grande garden room at the Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa in San Diego. This is a very unique space and ideal for the healing we are going to be activating in our bodies – one entire wall is floor-to-ceiling windows. So our workshop space will be flooded with natural light and if we wish, we can open all the windows to the patio and garden outside. Likewise, we can draw the curtains for parts of the workshop where we need to close off distractions.

Estancia La Jolla is an eco-friendly, green-certified hotel. The rooms have 100% cotton sheets, wired internet (so you can avoid the radiation) and windows or balcony doors that open – so you always have access to fresh air and can avoid air conditioning altogether, if you wish. The outdoor swimming pool is a heated, salt-water system pool (no chlorine!) and the hot tub is salt-water as well. The Hotel is set on 9 acres of land, so there are many courtyards, gardens and walks where you can find peace and serenity.

We have purposely set the start time at 10:00 am each day to give us plenty of time to relax, sleep-in a bit, and eat breakfast leisurely before starting. This is a healing retreat – so every part of it has been designed to facilitate relaxation and healing. If you're an early riser, then you'll have enough time to go for a walk in nature or participate in the Sunrise Yoga class given by the hotel.

From the time you arrive at the Grande Garden Room, Morning Refreshments will be set up and available right through until lunchtime. When we break for lunch, Chef Paul McCabe is providing a very special gut-friendly buffet lunch that I have worked with him to create for us. There will be dairy-free and gluten-free options, only healthy oils used (olive oil, coconut oil, butter), and everything is fresh food cooked from scratch. See the attached Retreat Menu for details. After lunch, until we end for the day at 6:00 pm, there will be Afternoon Refreshments available. You can either have dinner at the hotel, or check out the list of local restaurants I have compiled for you – see Dining Options.

Retreat Curriculum

In this retreat we are going to do a mix of lectures/teaching, discussion, guided journaling, and experiential work. We will be combining your insights/journaling with self-hypnosis/deep relaxation and EFT, pranic (energy) healing and connecting to your body's wisdom via movement (yoga-type). The Retreat is designed to get you out of your head and into your body, connecting with the vast wisdom and information that is within you and resulting in profound shift, a transformation of blocks and saboteurs, and healing.

Prepare to spend part of your time sitting in a chair, part of your time in gentle movement, and part of your time in deep relaxation lying down on your yoga mat (yes, please bring a yoga mat). Obviously, people with serious or chronic illness cannot sit in a chair for 8 hours a day and believe me, we have structured this Retreat to alternate activities and positions so that you don't get over-tired. And of course, in the accepting and nurturing energy we are going to create, if you have to lie down on your yoga mat at anytime, that is perfectly alright.

Grande Garden Room – Imagine it without the Tables!

In addition to your yoga mat that you will need to bring from home, we are also going to ask you to bring a pillow and a blanket from your hotel room each day as well. When we do the guided self-hypnosis/deep relaxation segments, we want you to be really comfortable and cosy.

We have structured the Retreat so that we will alternate periods of instruction and learning – which will lead to insights and new understanding about yourself and your condition – with healing therapies where we will then use those insights to create shift and transformation in your body/mind

Each of us has the ability to co-create healing in partnership with the Divine. Each of us has the ability to access God, the Universe, Great Spirit, Allah, or whatever you choose to call the great creative, healing, love force. And each of us has the ability to be intuitive about our own bodies, or the bodies of others we tune in to.

If you already know how to connect with God, your intuition and your healing life-force energy – that's wonderful and this Retreat will take you deeper and increase your fluency. If you're feeling a little overwhelmed just reading these last few sentences, don't worry, as long as your heart is willing, we'll walk you through it, step-by-step. So let's take a look at exactly what you'll be learning, doing and experiencing each day:

***************************************

Evening Reception 8 – 9 pm, Friday, May 14 th

We have set the time for this welcome and Retreat preparation for 8:00 pm to give everyone enough time to arrive and get checked-in first. This is where we will give you pertinent information about the weekend, where things are located, etc. and also have a chance to mingle a bit and get acquainted.

***************************************

DAY ONE, Saturday 10 am – 6 pm, May 15 th :

Morning Refreshments available (see Retreat Menu for details )

Quantum Healing – Jini Patel Thompson will begin by presenting the science (quantum physics and biochemistry) behind the mind/body healing we're going to do at this Retreat. You can rest assured this information will be presented in a very simple, easy-to understand manner. Jini is going to explain to you exactly how and why these techniques work. This way we can satisfy your critical mind, thereby making it easier for you to jump right in and allow maximum healing and shift to occur. When you understand why we're doing something and your skeptical mind has already absorbed the evidence for its effectiveness, then right there, some significant blocks to experiencing profound healing have been removed.

The Downside of Wellness – Annabel Fisher will take you through a process where you look at your own life, your relationships, your family dynamics, your beliefs, etc. and learn how to uncover your hidden saboteurs to wellness. Once you know the reasons your subconscious is blocking you from healing, she will then show you how to remove those blocks. This section will include teaching, journaling and group sharing (for those who wish to do so). You will also have a 20 minute break during this segment to help yourself to the Morning Refreshments (see Retreat Menu for details).

LUNCH – 1.5 Hours (see Retreat Menu ) gentle-gut lunch.

EFT Tapping – Annabel will now take you through an actual EFT session where you will tap on and clear the saboteurs and blocks to healing that you uncovered in the morning session.

20 minute Break for Afternoon Refreshments (see Retreat Menu for details )

Get Into Your Body Movement Yoga – Jini Patel Thompson will lead you in half an hour of gentle movement yoga combined with chi gung. You will learn how to gather energy into your body and also how to move the energy flows around your body.

Question & Answer Session – this is a time for group sharing and your chance to ask Annabel or Jini any questions that have arisen from the work we have done thus far.

15 minute Break for Afternoon Refreshments

Guided Deep Healing – Jini Patel Thompson will lead you in deep meditative healing visualizations and breathwork while you are lying down on your yoga mat, with your blanket and pillow. Your body will relax into theta brainwave state and you will be able to access healing outside the time/space continuum. While Jini is leading you in guided meditation, Annabel Fisher will be doing pranic healing on certain people she is led by spirit to work on. We will also be giving you a guided Healing Meditation CD, that you can use at home to continue this deep-level work.

***************************************

DAY TWO, Sunday 10 am – 6 pm, May 16th:

Morning Refreshments available (see Retreat Menu for details)

How To Be Your Own EFT Therapist – If you don't know what to tap on, or, you know the issue/problem you want to tap on, but then you don't know what to say when you tap, this training session with Annabel Fisher will show you the way. She will teach you how to be your own Creative Detective and then she will also teach you how to structure the way you tap. You will also do some journaling during this session as Annabel leads you through some exercises designed to produce insights to your own mind/body. She will end the session by giving you a tool to take home to continue with what you have learned – a CD with selected, key tap-along sessions.

20 minute Break for Morning Refreshments

Get Into Your Body Movement Yoga – Gentle yoga and chi gong with Jini Patel Thompson, but this time it is all set to music. Music is yet another pathway into the deeper levels of the self and combining it with movement and energy work can often be a profound experience. As per usual, you are encouraged to listen to your body and if you need to rest or lie down on your yoga mat at anytime, that is perfectly fine. Jini will end this session with Savasana – a relaxing yoga pose where you will integrate the good work you have just done. You will be given a take-home gift of a CD with music and Jini's voice, guiding you through this gentle "dance yoga" experience, so you can continue the dialogue with your body at home.

LUNCH – 1.5 Hours (see Retreat Menu) gentle-gut lunch.

Behaviour Patterns & Deciphering Symptoms – Jini Patel Thompson will share the most common behaviour patterns that lead to illness, in order to give you insight into your own life and how you are moving/behaving throughout your day that is sabotaging wellness. She will also discuss the different types, or groups, of symptoms – what each type signifies and then how to decipher the messages your symptoms are sending you. You will be encouraged to do some journaling about your insights.

Question & Answer Session – this is a time for group sharing and your chance to ask Annabel or Jini any questions that have arisen from the work we have done thus far.

20 minute Break for Afternoon Refreshments (see Retreat Menu for details )

Medicine Cards – we have a surprise gift for you during this session – a healing tool you can use to get insight and guidance on what to do for any issue or problem that comes up. And after we hand them out, Jini Patel Thompson will teach you how to use it, so that you can continue to use this tool frequently and effectively at home. Guaranteed fun as well as deep insight!

15 minute Break for Afternoon Refreshments

Guided Deep Healing – This time, Annabel Fisher will lead you into a deep meditative healing state, while you are lying down on your yoga mat, with your blanket and pillow. Your body will relax into theta brainwave state and you will be able to access healing outside the time/space continuum. When you are in this state, Annabel will guide you in "imagined or visualized tapping". While Annabel is leading you in meditative EFT, Jini Patel Thompson will be doing pranic healing on certain people, as she is led by spirit. Sometimes Jini receives messages for people from their spirit guides or angels and she will write these down for you to have after the session.

Retreat Farewell – you may choose to go straight to your room to lie down after this powerful healing, or you may wish to chat with others, share experiences and say good-bye for a while.

***************************************

Private Cocktail & Appies Party with Jini & Annabel (6:30 – 7:30 pm) – the first 25 people who registered for this retreat will move to the Library Room for a private party (drinks and appetizers) with Jini Patel Thompson and Annabel Fisher. Some of the columnists from Jini's Good Health Is Real Wealth infoletter may be joining us as well.

***************************************

Who Is This Retreat For?

The Listen To Your Body – Mind/Body/Spirit Healing Retreat is for people who:

  • have any serious or chronic health condition (e.g. multiple sclerosis, lupus, IBD, cancer, chronic pain, chronic hormone dysfunction like a thyroid imbalance, allergies, irritable bowel syndrome, chronic fatigue syndrome or fibromyalgia, diabetes, heart disease, depression, etc.)
  • don't just want to receive healing, but want to learn how to heal themselves.
  • want to learn effective tools and techniques, so that when a symptom occurs, or they go through a stressful period (which usually triggers illness) they can go to themselves first, within their own body and find out why this is happening and what their body needs them to do to heal it.
  • are tired of giving their power and authority over their body away to a doctor, practitioner, therapist, or family member and are ready to claim it for themselves.
  • recognize that their body is hotwired to their spiritual self and are ready to explore this connection and strengthen their relationship with the Divine/God/Universe.
  • are ready to be blown away, amazed and thrilled at the power for shift and change (that leads to healing) that is already present inside them and their existing connection to the Divine – just waiting to be accessed and activated.
  • eventually would like to train with Annabel Fisher and Jini Patel Thompson to lead these retreats in their own country and take the gift of healing to many more.

Who Should Not Attend?

This retreat is NOT for people who:

  • are unable to put aside their skeptical mind for a while and allow themselves to experience new things – they will not get the value from this retreat, unless they can free themselves to participate.
  • just want to show up and have someone else heal them. Although this may occur, the emphasis and focus for the weekend is on teaching you and giving you the tools to effect your own healing – any place, anytime.
  • are expecting to cure their illness (or heal from a 10 year disease) in a weekend. Healing is a journey, it is a process. And whilst miraculous healings do sometimes occur, they are few and far between.
  • are fundamental or fanatical members of any religion (e.g. Christian, Muslim, Mormon, Jehovah Witness, etc.). While a lot of what we will teach and experience during this Retreat will be compatible with your belief system, we are also fairly certain that some of it will be outside your comfort zone. People with strong religious beliefs would likely get better results and feel safer learning from healers within their own religious tradition.
  • are too sick to travel. If the stress of staying in a hotel, or traveling to San Diego is likely to trigger your illness, then it's better that you do not attend and wait until you are stronger.

What Happens After the Retreat?

Obviously, we don't want you to experience substantial shift and transformation during the Retreat, only to go home and have everything go back to normal. Rest assured, it won't. How can we say this with such confidence? Because the techniques we will be teaching you, and the therapies you'll be experiencing are not temporary.

When you resolve something with EFT, for example, it stays resolved. Now there may be other aspects or threads to the problem that may arise after you leave the Retreat – but you will be able to get going on resolving these with the tools you have learned during the Retreat.

As stated, we don't just want you to receive healing during the Retreat. The purpose of this Retreat is to also give you the training and some tools you can use to keep on healing yourself – any place, anytime.

We'll also be sending you home with a gift bag of goodies – a few items from us and a few more from supplement companies we talked into providing us with some freebies. The gifts from us will be practical tools that you can use to continue your healing – I can't say anymore, because one of them we're actually going to give you during the Retreat and teach you how to use right then.

The rest of these options for accommodations – if you don't want to stay at the retreat hotel – are all in the La Jolla area. Please take into account driving times (and cost) when making your decision. When you check out the pricing for accommodations in the area, I think you'll find that the Estancia La Jolla is well-priced for the amenities it offers.

2 . The Lodge At Torrey Pines

http://www.lodgetorreypines.com/

This hotel is more expensive than Estancia La Jolla for those who want high-end accommodations. Rooms range from 520 – 1500 square feet, overlooking the golf course or the central courtyard. It is just up the road from the Estancia La Jolla, so no more than a few minutes drive.

3. La Jolla Inn By The Sea

http://www.lajollainnbythesea.com/

For those who want more affordable accommodations, this is one of the nicer motels in the area. It is part of the Best Western chain and is 100% non-smoking. It is about 10 minutes drive away from Estancia La Jolla – where the retreat is being held.

4. La Jolla Travelodge

http://www.lajollatravelodge.com/

This is the cheapest motel I could find and again, it is 10 minutes away by car. Unfortunately, the rooms are both smoking and non-smoking.

5. Banana Bungalow Hostel

http://bananabungalowsandiego.com/

If you like staying in a hostel, then this is by far your cheapest option for accommodations. However, there are no hostels in La Jolla, so you have to stay at one like this in San Diego, which is a 20 minute drive to Estancia La Jolla. You will have to take a taxi or drive, since there is no direct bus service to the Estancia Hotel. You may be able to get bus service to the UCSD campus (which is adjacent to the hotel) but you will have to check to see what the bus schedule is for the weekend.

Extend Your Stay And Have A Holiday!
Recreational Activities In San Diego & La Jolla

Some of you may be flying in from Europe or cross-country and since San Diego is such a lovely spot in the Spring, you may want to extend your stay and have a holiday as well. It is also a great place for families and young children (I have listed some attractions specially for kids below).

Since the late 1800’s, La Jolla has been a coveted destination for San Diego retreats for visitors from across the globe. Situated a mere 20 minutes north of downtown San Diego this "jewel" by the sea spans seven miles of picturesque coastline. With a vibrant history, idyllic weather, soft-sand beaches, coves, caves and endless possibilities for shopping, sporting and culture, La Jolla is rich with history and filled with endless adventures.

Located adjacent to the University of California San Diego (UCSD) on the convenient Torrey Pines Road, Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa is just minutes from the newer La Jolla Village area, and up the hill from downtown La Jolla’s celebrated Prospect Street and Girard Avenue featuring cafés, top name shops, boutiques, art galleries, the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Athenaeum Music and Arts Library. Drive south to the Balboa Park area of San Diego and discover the world famous San Diego Zoo, Old Globe Theatre and Reuben H. Fleet Space Center, or north to the Torrey Pines Golf Club, Legoland or seasonal Thoroughbred racing at the Del Mar Racetrack.

San Diego's perfect climate allows for great weather year round. The city's beaches, museums, and recreational activities provide a welcome study break. The following information is designed to give you a feel for the communities surrounding the Estancia La Jolla Hotel, as well as provide you with insight on places to go, sites to see and recreational activities in the area. If you decide to extend your stay, or bring the family along, then this will be a great resource.

Balboa Park

Located just east of downtown, and about twenty minutes south of Estancia La Jolla Hotel, Balboa Park is home to the world famous San Diego Zoo, and to many museums, including the Museum of Man, Centro Cultural de la Raza, the San Diego Museum of Art, Museum of Photographic Arts, Reuben H. Fleet Science Center, and the San Diego Aerospace Museum. For additional information, visit their website: www.balboapark.org

Barrio Logan

San Diego's Barrio Logan is one of the oldest neighborhoods in San Diego, and home of historical sites such as Chicano Park that is visited every year by thousands of tourists. Three of the most popular Mexican restaurants in San Diego are located in Barrio Logan Chuey's, Porkyland, and Las Cuatro Milpas. Merely 20 minutes from Estancia La Jolla Hotel.

City Heights

One of the most diverse communities in San Diego with more than 30 dialects spoken here, City Heights continues to be one of the city's true redevelopment success stories. This neighborhood is approximately 20 minutes from Estancia La Jolla Hotel. Many small businesses still thrive here, offering products and merchandise of the varied cultures, which are present here that are hard to find in most shopping centers and supermarkets. The recently completed Urban Retail Village and soon to be opened Trans West housing and business center have helped continue the revitalization of this fascinating neighborhood.

Del Mar/Solana Beach

Del Mar and Solana Beach are upscale coastal communities with small shops and restaurants located approximately five miles north of Estancia La Jolla Hotel. Del Mar is home to the Del Mar Race Track, Del Mar Fairgrounds, and one of the many farmer's markets in the county.

Downtown San Diego

Located about 20 minutes from Estancia La Jolla Hotel, downtown is the urban center of San Diego. Overlooking the San Diego Harbor, downtown offers a wide variety of galleries, restaurants, theaters, shopping, and nightlife. The historic Gaslamp Quarter is located in the heart of downtown San Diego. Little Italy and a growing art district create a cultural environment on the outskirts of downtown.

Golden Triangle/University City

The community surrounding University of California San Diego (UCSD) is a short bus or car ride from campus. The UCSD campus is only 5 minutes drive south of the Estancia La Jolla Hotel. The Golden Triangle is comprised of several communities of apartments, condos, and houses, as well as three major shopping areas. La Jolla Village Square is located less than a mile South of campus. Costa Verde Center is centrally located in the Golden Triangle. Just east is the University Towne Center (UTC), the largest of the three shopping centers.

Hillcrest

About 15 minutes south of Estancia La Jolla Hotel, Hillcrest is where the UCSD Medical Center is located. The Medical Center is accessible by the UCSD Campus Shuttle. The Hillcrest community has a neighborhood feel to it and is home to some of the best and most inexpensive restaurants in town. Hillcrest offers unique shops, coffee and movie houses, and is also home to a large LGBT community.

La Jolla

La Jolla is also home to Scripps Institution of Oceanography, the La Jolla Museum of Contemporary Art, and a picturesque downtown. The climate and beach provide the perfect setting for recreational activities such as surfing, bike riding and sunbathing. Downtown La Jolla is lined with restaurants, coffee shops, and boutiques.

Mission Bay

Mission Bay is home to SeaWorld and offers great areas for picnicking, barbequing, and recreational water activities. It is the perfect setting for running, sailing, or kayaking. Mission Bay is also the location of the Mission Bay Aquatic Center. There you can find a number of recreational activities and classes to participate in, visit their website for details: www.missionbayaquaticcenter.com

Mission Beach

Mission Beach is home to Belmont Park and its famous roller coaster. The Mission Beach boardwalk is a prime location for fun and recreation under the San Diego sun; you can rent bicycles or rollerblade.

Mission Valley

Located about 20 minutes southeast of Estancia La Jolla Hotel, Mission Valley is a shopper's paradise and includes two large retail centers: Mission Valley Center and Fashion Valley. Mission Valley also boasts several hotels, a golf course, and Qualcomm Stadium, home to the San Diego Chargers football team.

North Torrey Pines

Immediately north (a few minutes) of Estancia La Jolla Hotel is a scenic drive through Torrey Pines state beach. This state park includes 14 miles of trails for hiking, hidden caves, and a beautiful beach. North Torrey Pines is also home to a growing biomedical and technological industry and the Torrey Pines Golf Course.

North Torrey Pines State Park & Beach

A few minutes drive north of Estancia La Jolla Hotel. This state park includes 14 miles of trails for hiking, hidden caves, and a beautiful beach. See their website for guided nature tours, trail maps and detailed information: http://www.torreypine.org

Old Town

San Diego's historic Old Town has a unique flavor within a colonial Spanish setting. The state park consists of restaurants and shops with early San Diego architecture. Old Town can be reached by the San Diego Trolley, a system that connects downtown San Diego, the San Ysidro border area, and the east county. A major transit depot, Old Town connects with San Diego Transit buses, and the Coaster commuter trains.

Pacific Beach

Pacific Beach is located a few miles south of Estancia La Jolla Hotel, and is called "PB" by the locals. The community is lined with restaurants, bars, and nightclubs. The beaches provide some of the best surf in the county. The boardwalk stretches from the Pier to Mission Beach's Pirate's Cove. This beach community is home for many college students and young professionals.
